JAM! - Jesus and Me!

JAM! (Jesus And Me!) is the new Elementary Sunday School Program for children from 3 years of age (must be potty trained) to 5th Graders.

We will be utilizing the Workshop Rotation Model to teach Bible stories and lessons.  This model follows one story for several weeks, and teaches it through different activities that utilize the multiple intelligences.  In a nutshell, it is the Christian version of “No child left behind!”

Below are the different classes that will be used during the course of the year in JAM!  Following the name of the class is a brief description of the activities that will be used to tap into the multiple intelligences for that particular lesson.

Every class may not be used for every lesson.  For example, one lesson, or Bible story, will be taught for 2 to 4 weeks, but experienced in many different ways.

  • T.E.N.T. (Teaching Eternal News Today) – Listen to a storyteller (in first person) and experience activities related to the nomadic lifestyle.

  • Moved by the Spirit – Re-enact a Bible story … or maybe contemporize it, learning the story by being the story.  Children may also interpret the Bible story through large body movement, physical activities and games.

  • How Great Thou Art! – Relate to the story with a craft – not just glue, markers and paper!

  • Garden of Eatin’ – Eat and prepare food as an illustration of the Bible story.

  • Pray Per View – Explore the Bible story by discussing and viewing a movie of the story or finding correlations between everyday movies and the biblical lesson.

We need helpers in all areas, so register to volunteer for a rotation – it’s only a five week commitment!  If you have any questions, please contact  Fr. Keith Oglesby.
