Worship Changes during season of Lent

In the forty-day season of Lent, there are some worship changes you will see and hear. First, remember to respond, "And with thy Spirit" and the other Rite I responses. We have switched to Rite I, for its more penitential prayers and formal language. On Sundays, the Psalm and much of the service music is said, not sung, to be a little more solemn and simple. As usual, we forgo saying "All--ia" until the Easter Vigil. The color changes from green to purple, the color solemn preparation. The crosses are veiled symbolizing the shadows of betrayal, trial, suffering, and death. The usual dismissal (May the Blessing of God.) have changed to a solemn prayer.

Counselors give one week of their summer in exchange for food, lodging, and an amazing experience with the campers. To apply, print and complete the Counselor Application Form (available at www.campmikell.com)  and return it before the deadline of March 7, 2008. And if you know of a promising high schooler who fits the bill, please pass on this article; we're always looking for new faces in our leadership!

Lenten Soup Suppers and Program: Lent and God’s New Creation

On Wednesdays, February 13th through March 12th Fr. Keith will discuss new ways to experience Lent. Instead of focusing on traditional Lenten disciplines such as giving up things that we like (chocolate, coffee, etc.), Keith will look at how the church has understood Lent and repentance as part of our participation with God’s new creation in Jesus Christ. A simple soup supper begins the evening at 6:00, (see the next announcement for details) with the program from 6:45 to 7:45. There will also be childcare for younger children and a supervised, seasonally appropriate video for older children.

Daughters of the King Preparation Classes

DOK stands for the Order of the Daughters of the King. Worldwide, it is an order for the lay (or ordained) woman who, by the reaffirmation of the promises made at Baptism, pledges herself to a lifelong program of prayer, service, and evangelism, dedicated to strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.

The St. Aidan’s chapter of DOK has 30-plus members and meets one Saturday per month at St Aidans. All women are welcome to attend the meetings. A requirement to become a daughter is to attend preparations classes. These classes run about 8 weeks. We are planning to start preparation classes this spring.

For more information, please check out www.dok-national.org or ask questions of Becky Sullivan or any other Daughter. If you are interested please contact Becky Sullivan 404-626-3156 or rssullivan5@gmail.com . You can also talk to other daughters at St. Aidan’s.
