Alpharetta Marathon Road Closure notice for Sunday,
March 2.
(click map to enlarge)
As you come to church on March 2, please find an alternative route to
the Windward parkway/Hwy 9/Cogburn route. There will be significant
delays there due to the marathon. (Coming to church from the North, down
Cogburn, should be normal because the Marathon does not come by St.
Aidan’s.)
Expect the following issues:
GA 400 and WINDWARD PKWY: Entrance ramp to GA 400 Northbound and
Exit ramp GA 400 Southbound at Windward Pkwy completely closed. (If that
is your route, use Exit 12 instead, going from McFarland to Hwy 9, then
south, eventually turning right onto Bethany Bend, then left onto
Cogburn toward church.)
Windward Parkway: One lane closed in each direction.
EXPECT HEAVY DELAYS AT THE INTERSECTION OF WINDWARD PKWY AND Hwy 9/N.
Main.
You may even need to cut-through the Wal-mart parking lot.
We suggested going further North on Hwy 9, past Frye’s, and turning left
(West) onto Webb Road. Then take a right (North) onto Cogburn, and come
to church.
Or use Bethany Bend further north, and then come down Cogburn (South) to
church.
Or come “the back way” along Hopewell Rd, turning Rt. Onto Bethany Bend,
and then Right onto Cogburn (at King’s Ridge) and then to church.
Hwy 9/Main Street: Pace vehicle leading Southbound traffic from
Cogburn Rd. (at the old Ingles shopping center) to Canton St. Extension.
EXPECT HEAVY DELAYS. One Southbound lane closed from Canton Street
Extension to Milton Ave.

food, lodging, and an amazing experience with the campers. To apply,

promising high schooler who fits the bill, please pass on this article;

Daughters
of the King Preparation Classes
DOK stands for the Order
of the Daughters of the King. Worldwide, it is an order for the lay (or
ordained) woman who, by the reaffirmation of the promises made at
Baptism, pledges herself to a lifelong program of prayer, service, and
evangelism, dedicated to strengthening of the spiritual life of her
parish.
The St. Aidan’s chapter of DOK has 30-plus members and meets one
Saturday per month at St Aidans. All women are welcome to attend the
meetings. A requirement to become a daughter is to attend preparations
classes. These classes run about 8 weeks. We are planning to start
preparation classes this spring.
For more information, please check out
www.dok-national.org or
ask questions of Becky Sullivan or any other Daughter. If you are
interested please contact Becky Sullivan 404-626-3156 or
rssullivan5@gmail.com. You
can also talk to other daughters at St. Aidan’s.

Food Pantry Needs Dry Beans!!
This
is easy! Just purchase any size bag of dry beans - preferably pintos -
and drop them in the collection box in the narthex. They can use any
size bag - the larger bags are divided into quart size bags by
volunteers at the pantry. Thanks so much!
Loose Plate Offering
The Loose Plate offering from Sunday March
2 supports our mission to Honduras. Please give prayerfully today
because our gifts give us all ownership of the work being done by the
volunteers going in our name.

There will also be childcare for younger children and a supervised,
seasonally appropriate video for older children.

Landscape Day. We will be spreading pine straw and mulch around the beds
and possibly doing some small plantings in preparation for Easter.

them. We plan to be finished by noon. Contact Joan Cowart or Richard

funding

-- Explore new ministry opportunities and evaluate current
efforts
If you have any questions please contact Betsy Jones at 404.694.6633 or

Easter Day Services
March 23rd — Special
Times 9 & 11:15 AM
Full Music and Choir at both Services. We know that 8 am is early to
start for many, especially those with younger children. There’s also a
history of full seating at the 10:30. Our hope in moving the times up
is that some who normally come to 10:30 AM will come at 9 AM instead
to balance out attendance. And you can always come to the Easter Vigil
the Saturday night before Easter at 8 PM and have that “count” as
Easter much like Christmas Eve “counts” as Christmas Day.

Honduras
Mission
This Sunday is the last
Sunday before our first group representing St. Aidan's leaves for
Honduras on March 9.
Thank you for supporting
this outreach to very needy kids in Tegucigalpa. The loose plate
offering today goes to building materials used to construct a group
living community for street orphans of Tegucigalpa.
Come by the table in
Burtenshaw Hall to add bricks to the house we are building and to
purchase raffle tickets for the wonderful items made or contributed by
our outreach team. The raffle items are on display today and will be
back a couple of times before our second group leaves in April. The
raffle drawing is scheduled for a Sunday in April when both away
groups are back to give a report on the work St. Aidan's accomplished
in Honduras.
If you would like to
join an away team for 2009 or take a more active role in the home
team, look for an organization meeting of the outreach committee in
May. See the St. Aidan's
Honduras WEB link for more information.

at 6PM we will have a shrimp boil at St. Aidan's. Don't like shrimp?
This low-country meal can be made without the shrimp...just sausage, red
potatoes, and corn. More information in a few weeks. As many of us are
in foyers I thought you could avoid scheduling for this night. Father
Ogier, previously from St. David's, will be our cook. Food will be
prepared on site but outdoors. Hope many of you will plan to attend. For
more information, please contact Charles or Bonnie Olentine at

A letter from Deacon Carole
Maddux
Dear People and Vestry of St. Aidan’s,
Thank you so much for the lovely going away party and generous love
offering—not to mention the Honduras scholarship! You have all given me
so much over the years. I am richly blessed.
It has been a great privilege and pleasure to serve St. Aidan’s in a lay
and ordained capacity. You have formed me and given me the “talents” I
need as I take Christ’s Word to the world, and I thank you for it.
Looking forward to the next time our journeys cross.
IHN,
Deacon Carole
