First Sunday Loose Plate Offering

The Loose Plate Offering for this Sunday will be donated to HomeStretch, a non-profit that helps homeless families get back on their feet and into permanent, sustainable housing.  HomeStretch gives families a safe place to live while helping them develop self-reliance and stability.  With dedicated Family Coordinators, volunteer support teams and life skills workshops, homeless families graduate from HomeStretch with a strong grasp on their finances, reduced debt and accumulated savings.  Many have increased their income through job skills training and improved employment.  St. Aidan’s will match up to $500 in loose plate donations to HomeStretch.  For information on HomeStretch, visit their web site at www.homestretch.org

Adult Christian Education

Adult Forum - Easter Starts Our Mission

What does it mean to pray that “God send us into the world,” as we do in our post communion prayer, or “to go forth in the name of Christ.”  The adult forum in April and May with Fr. Rob will engage us in living those words, not just saying them.  Join us starting April 18.

Weekly Bible Study

The Weekly Bible Study is on Tuesdays at 9:30am. We study the Sunday Lectionary in advance of the upcoming Sunday.  The Wednesday night class resumes on Wed, April 14th at 7 pm.

Bible Study - "To Live Is Christ"

"To Live Is Christ" Bible study by Beth Moore journeys the audience through the events in the life of Paul.  We will not meet on April 4th or 11th  but will resume meeting on April 18th.

Lift High the Cross

Our three-year term of our Lift High the Cross Campaign comes to an official close on April 25.  We have made great strides in renovations and principal reduction over these three years.  Thank you to all who contributed.  We are counting on all pledges to be paid by April 25, on which we’ll have a special celebration and recognition of our successes.  We also invite any one who did not pledge but has not given to make a special, once-a-year type of gift on April 25.  Our outstanding loan is still more than $1.7 million - so every contribution helps.  (Technically, Lift High the Cross contributions will be accepted through the end of 2010 and beyond.  As we said, every contribution counts.)

Introducing NFCC Food Pantry "Item of the Month"

St. Aidan's has long supported North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) with annual Brown Bag food drives and assorted food donations.  Now we'll be collecting food donations based on specific needs identified by NFCC.  This will help balance the inventory in the NFCC Food Panty, so they don't end up with tons of rice and no peanut butter, for example.  To donate, just purchase the "Item of the Month" during your regular grocery shopping, and drop it in the box in the Narthex at any time during the month.

The NFCC Food Pantry "Item of the Month" for of APRIL  are:  canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon, ham, etc.).

Office Volunteers Needed

We need a few additional volunteers to keep our church office running smoothly.  If you are interested in helping with such things as the publishing the Sunday bulletin, making sure we have necessary supplies on hand, or filling in for other volunteers (you know - when pesky things like vacations or open heart surgery get in the way), please contact Donna Jones at 770-521-0207 or office@Staidans.org; Terry Ledford at 404-580-2889 or terry_ledford@bellsouth.net

St. Aidan’s Green Team

Green Team Tip

Discarded plastic pollutes oceans and lakes and threatens aquatic life.  You can reduce your plastic use by opting for reusable shopping bags and bottles.  Beach, lake and stream cleanups offer an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while doing something good for the environment.

Recycling Reminder

Please stop and think before tossing your trash!  Please use the recycling containers in Burtenshaw Hall appropriately.  The tall slim cans are for clean, empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans.  The small cans in the classrooms are for clean paper.  The Green Team appreciates your consideration!

How are you helping to save the planet?

The Green Team would like to know what you are doing in your home and community to help save our planet.  Please send photos of your recycling efforts, compost bins, rain barrels, etc. to Joyce Tripp Miller, 1205 Tuscany Ct, Alpharetta, GA 30004 or jtmiller120@gmail.com.  Please identify people who are in your photos.

Join the Green team!

The St. Aidan's Green Team meets the second Sunday of each month after the 11 am service; all are welcome to participate.  If you are interested in helping St. Aidan’s with its environmental stewardship (recycling and the like) please contact Father Rob at fr.wood@earthlink.net.

Hikers, Walkers and Lovers of Nature

St. Aidan’s Spring Family Hike is Saturday, May 8th at 8am.  The Laurel Ridge Trail is a relatively flat 3.8 mile circular trail at Buford Dam.  It should be a fun hike for young and old alike.  Bring a picnic lunch if you want to make a day of it.  The trail is about 15 miles from the church (400 Exit 14) so it should not take long to get there and back.  We will meet in St. Aidan’s parking lot at 8am and leave promptly at 8:15am.  We should be back around noon.  Contact Jim Linthicum if you would like to meet the group at the trail.  To sign-up or ask questions, contact Jim at jlinthicum@yahoo.com or 404.983.3558.
