Upcoming Outreach Activity

On Tuesday, April 22nd we have been asked to cook, deliver, and serve dinner to participants in the HomeStretch Life Skills class. Homestretch provides short-term transitional housing for homeless families and helps them get back on their feet by offering individualized support and mentoring. We need 10 - 12 volunteers to help out with this project. We will be preparing food from 4:00PM until 5:30PM then heading to Roswell where we will serve approximately 35 - 40 people attending the Life Skills class. We need volunteers to help cook as well as volunteers to deliver and serve. JAM! is back

Jesus And Me! has started a new series of rotation-based classes for our pre-K to 5th grade students lasts until the end of April. There is also a Pray & Play class for 3-4 year olds. Please join us.

Are you new at St. Aidan’s?

The second of four Newcomer classes will be Sunday, April 13 at 9:30 am in the conference room next to the church offices.  On April 27, the class covers ways to get involved in the life and ministries of the parish.  The Newcomer class will be repeated on a regular basis throughout the year.  Contact Clark Miller or Fr. Keith with questions.  We welcome you and hope you will join us!

Spring into Action!

Please join us Saturday, April 19th at 9:00am to organize all of the storage areas located around the church, Burtenshaw Hall, and storage shed. Our goal is to sort through the clutter, organize what we need to store and remove what we don’t need. We will assign specific storage areas to the different ministries and have them take ownership of maintaining those areas.

Honduras Mission

The second St. Aidan's Honduras "Away Team”  is hard at work in Tegucigalpa as this issue of Parish Matters goes to press.  They return late today.  We on the "Home Team" can continue to support their effort with thoughts and prayers.  The money raised by St. Aidan's "Home Team" is also hard at work in the materials that will literally provide a roof over the heads of perhaps 40 homeless Honduran children.  Join us on Sunday, April 27, to learn all about the Honduras mission work and enjoy pictures of our outreach in action.  There is still time to purchase raffle tickets before the April 27 drawing.

Lift High the Cross: Our First Anniversary

Our one year anniversary of our Lift High the Cross capital campaign is coming up in just under a month on April 30.  As we approach that date, please give prayers of thanksgiving for all we have accomplished so far—like the sanctuary renovation, the new organ, and the $280,000 debt reduction.  Also, please remember to keep your pledges current, or more specifically, with the first third of the three-year giving cycle coming to an end, we hope all would have been able to contribute one-third of their total amount pledged.  If you have not pledged and would like to, or if you can make a contribution, please get a pledge card and/or giving envelope in the narthex.

Safeguarding God's Children Program

Saturday, April 26th, 9:00-12:00, Burtenshaw Hall - For the past four years, clergy and lay parish staff and volunteers throughout the Diocese of Atlanta have experienced Safeguarding God's Children, a training program developed by the Church Pension Group and Praesidium Religious Services, a company, based in Arlington, Texas that specializes in prevention of sexual abuse of children, youth, adults and the elderly.

For Parents and Congregations - a 30 minute video and follow-up discussion designed to give all adults who are concerned about children and youth a basic understanding of the dynamics of child sexual abuse, how to recognize signs that a child may have been abused, and what to do if you have concerns about a person's behavior towards a child or youth, or if you suspect that a child or youth has been molested; and For Ministries: a 22 minute video and follow-up discussion designed for clergy, employees of churches and church organizations, and volunteers responsible for planning, implementing or supervising ministries, activities or programs for children and youth. It shows what steps can be taken to prevent child sexual abuse in church and other organizational settings. The Diocese of Atlanta expects churches in the diocese to use this training program to make their clergy, staff, volunteers, church leaders and other members aware of the problem of child sexual abuse and how they can use well defined strategies in their parish to prevent its occurance.

If you have programatic contact with the children or youth at St. Aidan's, (JAM, EYC, acolytes, etc.) or if you are a vestry member who has not yet had the training, it is a requirement of your ministry that you attend the training. Please sign up by contacting Donna Jones, Parish Secretary, at donnajones@staidans.org.

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Where has the time gone? We are now in the count down for the one year anniversary of the Lift High the Cross Campaign… With only 3 weeks left in the LHTC year, we hope everyone who made a pledge (last year) is working towards fulfilling their pledge by the end of April. The success of the annual campaign is based on each one of us acknowledging the blessings we have received from God and honoring him in return with OUR financial pledge gift. When we are obedient to God, giving our time, talents, and financial resources it can be a natural expression of our relationship with Him. God wants all of us to give from a willing and obedient heart. Out attitude is the key. "God loves a cheerful giver". (2 Cor. 9:7)...May we all have "an attitude of gratitude".

Thank you,
Beth Burns and Brad Serff
Stewardship Committee Co-Chairs

NFCC needs cereal!

Thanks so much for your recent, generous donations of dry beans. NFCC’s food pantry is now in need of dry cereal for the clients it serves. Regular size boxes are the best and any sort of cereal is good—Cheerios, Shredded Wheat, Raisin Bran, Special K, Smart Start or your favorite brand. This week when you are at the grocery, pick up a couple extra boxes for the food pantry and place them in the basket in the Narthex. We’ll deliver them post haste! (If you include a box or package of dry milk, you’ll get an extra star in your halo!!)

The Alleluia Fund

Planting new churches in the Diocese of Atlanta, from Bishop Alexander: “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” With these words, Jesus blesses his disciples and sends them out, granting them peace for their journey even in the presence of doubt. All of us who have received the peace of Christ are also sent out to proclaim that good news. How will you help this Easter season in bringing that peace to the world? Your gift to the Alleluia Fund for Mission will help us to start new churches for people who are still looking for that peace. I invite your gift this Easter season. For more information, see the brochures in the Narthex or go to www.episcopalatlanta.org  or call us at 404-601-5349.
