Are
You New at St. Aidan’s?
The third of four Newcomer
classes will be Sunday, April 20 at 9:30 am in the conference room next
to the church offices.
The topic will be a brief history of St. Aidan’s and a tour of our
facilities. On April 27, the class will cover ways to get involved in
the life and ministries of the parish. The Newcomer class will be
repeated on a regular basis throughout the year. Contact Clark Miller or
Fr. Keith with questions. We welcome you and hope you will join us!

NFCC
needs cereal!
Thanks so much for your
recent, generous donations of dry beans. NFCC’s food pantry is now in
need of dry cereal for the clients it serves. Regular size boxes are the
best and any sort of cereal is good—Cheerios, Shredded Wheat, Raisin
Bran, Special K, Smart Start or your favorite brand. This week when you
are at the grocery, pick up a couple extra boxes for the food pantry and
place them in the basket in the Narthex. We’ll deliver them post haste!
(If you include a box or package of dry milk, you’ll get an extra star
in your halo!!)

returning after Easter, please remember to donate altar flowers or have
the tabernacle light candle burn for one week in honor of someone you
love. The requested contribution for altar flower donations is $45.00,
and there can be two donations per Sunday (each for $45). The tabernacle
light donation is $10. Please be sure to make a note on the memo portion
of your check stating the date and if donation is for altar flowers or
the tabernacle light. The sign-up folder is in the Narthex.

Upcoming
Outreach Activity
On Tuesday, April 22nd we
have been asked to cook, deliver, and serve dinner to participants in
the HomeStretch Life Skills class. Homestretch provides short-term
transitional housing for homeless families and helps them get back on
their feet by offering individualized support and mentoring. We need 10
- 12 volunteers to help out with this project. We will
be preparing food from 4:00PM until 5:30PM then heading to Roswell where
we will serve approximately 35 - 40 people attending the Life Skills
class. We need volunteers to help cook as well as volunteers to deliver
and serve. If you are interested in helping, please sign up on the
Volunteer sheet in the Narthex or contact Betsy Jones at 404.694. 6633
or betsyjones@charter.net.
A Visit
from HomeStretch

Executive Director of HomeStretch will be joining us during the Sunday
School hour. HomeStretch, one of St. Aidan's Outreach partners, provides
short-term transitional housing for homeless families and helps them get
back on their feet by offering individualized support and mentoring.
Nancy will discuss the mission of the HomeStretch program and introduce
us to a HomeStretch participant who's life was transformed with the help
of the HomeStretch staff and outreach volunteers.

Lift
High the Cross: Our First Anniversary
Our First Anniversary Our
one year anniversary of our Lift High the Cross capital campaign is
coming up in just under a month on April 30. As we approach that date,
please give prayers of thanksgiving for all we have accomplished so
far—like the sanctuary renovation, the new organ, and the $280,000 debt
reduction. Also, please remember to keep your pledges current, or more
specifically, with the first third of the three-year giving cycle coming
to an end, we hope all would have been able to contribute one-third of
their total amount pledged. If you have not pledged and would like to,
or if you can make a contribution, please get a pledge card and/or
giving envelope in the narthex.

Thanks
to all who donated blood last Sunday
We had 24 usable
donations, which is a few more than our prior average. Several donors
used a new extraction process that removes the red blood cells and
returns plasma, allowing a donor to give the equivalent of two pints.
The Atlanta area hospitals are still in an emergency shortage, so every
pint helps. St. Aidan’s next blood drive is scheduled for November 9th.

Safeguarding
God's Children Program
Saturday, April
26th, 9:00-12:00, Burtenshaw Hall - For the past four years, clergy and
lay parish staff and volunteers throughout the Diocese of Atlanta have
experienced Safeguarding God's Children, a training program developed by
the Church Pension Group and Praesidium Religious Services, a company,
based in Arlington, Texas that specializes in prevention of sexual abuse
of children, youth, adults and the elderly.
For Parents and Congregations
a 30 minute video
and follow-up discussion designed to give all adults who are concerned
about children and youth a basic understanding of the dynamics of child
sexual abuse, how to recognize signs that a child may have been abused,
and what to do if you have concerns about a person's behavior towards a
child or youth, or if you suspect that a child or youth has been
molested; and For Ministries: a 22 minute video and follow-up discussion
designed for clergy, employees of churches and church organizations, and
volunteers responsible for planning, implementing or supervising
ministries, activities or programs for children and youth. It shows what
steps can be taken to prevent child sexual abuse in church and other
organizational settings. The Diocese of Atlanta expects churches in the
diocese to use this program to train their clergy, staff, volunteers,
church leaders and other members to raise awareness of the problem of
child sexual abuse and how they can use well defined strategies in their
parish to prevent its occurrence. If you have programmatic contact with
the children or youth at St. Aidan's, (JAM, EYC, acolytes, etc.) or if
you are a vestry member who has not yet had the training, it is a
requirement of your ministry that you attend the training. Please sign
up by contacting Donna Jones, Parish Secretary, at
donnajones@staidans.org.

The
Alleluia Fund
Planting new churches in
the Diocese of Atlanta, from Bishop Alexander: “Peace be with you. As
the Father has sent me, so I send you.” With these words, Jesus blesses
his disciples and sends them out, granting them peace for their journey
even in the presence of doubt. All of us who have received the peace of
Christ are also sent out to proclaim that good news. How will you help
this Easter season in bringing that peace to the world? Your gift to the
Alleluia Fund for Mission will help us to start new churches for people
who are still looking for that peace. I invite your gift this Easter
season. For more information, see the brochures in the Narthex or go to
www.episcopalatlanta.org
or call us at 404-601-5349.

"I
have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the
weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, It is
more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
There are only 2 weeks
remaining in the LHTC Annual Stewardship Campaign. We are very grateful
for the efforts so many are making to honor their financial commitment
and "catch up" on what was pledged last year. It is not to late if you
have not had a chance to fulfill your gifts. If you haven't, maybe the
following "guidelines" will be helpful...
Guides To Giving:
It all
belongs to God. Not just your money, your home, your car, but
everything! You can not lose anything that you give to God since he owns
it all (1 Cor. 4:7).
Why should we give? God wants us to give from a willing and obedient
heart. Our attitude is the key. "God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Cor.
9:7).
How much should we give? Give liberally. "Whoever sows generously will
also reap generously" (2 Cor. 9:6).
How should we give? As we are obedient to God, giving our time, talents,
and financial resources can become a natural expression of our
relationship with him.
You have been entrusted with what you have received...Pray for the
ways your heart will be guided when you give.
Yours in Christ,
Beth Burns and Brad Serff
