Safeguarding
God's Children Program
Safeguarding God's
Children Program: Saturday, April 26th, 9:00-12:00, Burtenshaw Hall: For
the past four years, clergy and lay parish staff and volunteers
throughout the Diocese of Atlanta have experienced Safeguarding God's
Children, a training program developed by the Church Pension Group and
Praesidium Religious Services, a company, based in Arlington, Texas that
specializes in prevention of sexual abuse of children, youth, adults and
the elderly.
For Parents and Congregations: a 30 minute video and follow-up
discussion designed to give all adults who are concerned about children
and youth a basic understanding of the dynamics of child sexual abuse,
how to recognize signs that a child may have been abused, and what to do
if you have concerns about a person's behavior towards a child or youth,
or if you suspect that a child or youth has been molested; and For
Ministries: a 22 minute video and follow-up discussion designed for
clergy, employees of churches and church organizations, and volunteers
responsible for planning, implementing or supervising ministries,
activities or programs for children and youth. It shows what steps can
be taken to prevent child sexual abuse in church and other
organizational settings. The Diocese of Atlanta expects churches in the
diocese to use this program to train their clergy, staff, volunteers,
church leaders and other members to raise awareness of the problem of
child sexual abuse and how they can use well defined strategies in their
parish to prevent its occurrence. If you have programmatic contact with
the children or youth at St. Aidan's, (JAM, EYC, acolytes, etc.) or if
you are a vestry member who has not yet had the training, it is a
requirement of your ministry that you attend the training. Please sign
up by contacting Donna Jones, Parish Secretary, at
donnajones@staidans.org.

NFCC
needs cereal!
NFCC needs cereal!
Thanks so much for your recent, generous donations of dry beans. NFCC’s
food pantry is now in need of dry cereal for the clients it serves.
Regular size boxes are the best and any sort of cereal is good—Cheerios,
Shredded Wheat, Raisin Bran, Special K, Smart Start or your favorite
brand. This week when you are at the grocery, pick up a couple extra
boxes for the food pantry and place them in the basket in the Narthex.
We’ll deliver them post haste! (If you include a box or package of dry
milk, you’ll get an extra star in your halo!!)

Lift
High the Cross: Our First Anniversary
Our one year anniversary of our Lift High
the Cross capital campaign is on April 30. As we approach that date,
please give prayers of thanksgiving for all we have accomplished so
far—like the sanctuary renovation, the new organ, and the $280,000 debt
reduction. Also, please remember to keep your pledges current, or more
specifically, with the first third of the three-year giving cycle coming
to an end, we hope all would have been able to contribute one-third of
their total amount pledged. If you have not pledged, or if you can make
a contribution, please get a pledge card and/or giving envelope in the
narthex.

Christian Stewardship as a Way of Life
The Stewardship of our time and talents
is the wise and responsible use of the special gifts that God has
entrusted to each of us. It is believing that God has created each one
of us with unique abilities and attributes, including our personalities,
interests, motivations, life experiences, talents and skills, hopes and
dreams, which make us who we are.
We
are one-of-a-kind creations of God with unique contributions to make in
this world. Our lives have real meaning only when we use our gifts in
accordance with God's will. As we grow in Stewardship we grow in our
ability to hear and accept God's call and to let our life be guided by
God's will, not our own desires and impulses. OUR LIVES ARE GOD'S GIFT
TO US; HOW WE LIVE IS OUR GIFT TO GOD. (The
Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio)
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
This is the last week in the annual Lift
High the Cross Annual Campaign. We are hoping that everyone will fulfill
the pledge to which they committed last year. Running the church (God's
Home) is similar to running our own home...with monthly bills, mortgage,
etc. The budget that was created for the church was based on commitments
made in good faith. The operations of the church are dependant on an
income (your pledged contributions), just as you are dependant on an
income for your home.
Thank you for your support.

The
Alleluia Fund
Planting new
churches in the Diocese of Atlanta, from Bishop Alexander: “Peace be
with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” With these words,
Jesus blesses his disciples and sends them out, granting them peace for
their journey even in the presence of doubt. All of us who have received
the peace of Christ are also sent out to proclaim that good news. How
will you help this Easter season in bringing that peace to the world?
Your gift to the Alleluia Fund for Mission will help us to start new
churches for people who are still looking for that peace. I invite your
gift this Easter season. For more information, see the brochures in the
Narthex or go to
www.episcopalatlanta.org or call us at 404-601-5349.
