NFCC needs cereal!

Thanks so much for your recent, generous donations of dry beans. NFCC’s food pantry is now in need of dry cereal for the clients it serves. Regular size boxes are the best and any sort of cereal is good—Cheerios, Shredded Wheat, Raisin Bran, Special K, Smart Start or your favorite brand. This week when you are at the grocery, pick up a couple extra boxes for the food pantry and place them in the basket in the Narthex. We’ll deliver them post haste! (If you include a box or package of dry milk, you’ll get an extra star in your halo!!)

The requested contribution for altar flower donations is $45.00, and there can be two donations per Sunday (each for $45). The tabernacle light donation is $10. Please be sure to make a note on the memo portion of your check stating the date and if donation is for altar flowers or the tabernacle light. The sign-up folder is in the Narthex.

Parish Picnic Sunday, May 18th!

Mark your calendars! Join your fellow parishioners for the fun, food, festivities and fellowship that await at the annual St Aidan's Spring Picnic, Sunday May 18th after the 10:30 service.  There will be games for the kids, conversation, laughter, music and entertainment, and lots of food!  Enjoy the company of friends and family, rekindle old relationships, or meet someone new. Bring your favorite salad, vegetable, casserole, appetizer, baked goods or dessert to share (and your appetite!), and the main course and refreshments will be provided by the church.  Volunteers will be needed for the loan of awnings, setup, children's events, tear down and cleanup, so please look for the signup sheets in Burtenshaw Hall on Sunday. For questions, call Jim Skinner (770) 664-4887, or email aviator610@cs.com. See you there!

Sunday is Youth Sunday

Sunday the youth of the parish “come to the front” to share their gifts with the entire congregation. Youth will be reading the lessons, leading the prayers and some will even be preaching. This is an opportunity for all of us to see their talents, faith and enthusiasm and honor and give thanks for their contributions. Also, the Rector’s Forum will focus on Youth ministry here at St. Aidan’s as we discuss how we can all help to make it better. Please join us at 9:30 in the parish hall.

Something a little different! Our meeting this week will be at 9:00AM in the Library. This will give an opportunity for those of you who attend the early service to spend a little time with us. We'll have coffee, muffins and fruit available or, if you need something more hearty, bring your breakfast with you and come join us.

A Special Thanks to all the HomeStretch Volunteers!

Thanks to all the wonderful people who helped cook, deliver, and serve a hearty dinner to the participants of the HomeStretch LifeSkills class. This was a grand follow-up to the presentation from our visitors from HomeStretch  the previous Sunday. We look forward to a continued partnership with this great organization.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

June 2-6

In just 4 weeks, we will convert our Parish Center into a Habitat for Humanity VBS “work site” and learning center. Mark your calendars for Monday through Friday, June 2nd-6th, from 5 to 7 pm.  Dinner will be served from 7 to 7:30 pm.  Please invite friends and neighbors, too! This is a good way to introduce them to the St. Aidan’s family.

For the past 3 years, we have hosted 100 people each night during our VBS programs, and we hope for another big turnout.  We still need helpers for drama, set up, photography/video, meal planning (preparation/clean-up), and supply contributions.  Please contact Fr. Keith if you have any questions. Registration forms are available in the Narthex and the Parish Center or online,
www.staidans.org.  Please sign-up by May 18th!

The Alleluia Fund

Planting new churches in the Diocese of Atlanta, from Bishop Alexander: “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” With these words, Jesus blesses his disciples and sends them out, granting them peace for their journey even in the presence of doubt. All of us who have received the peace of Christ are also sent out to proclaim that good news. How will you help this Easter season in bringing that peace to the world? Your gift to the Alleluia Fund for Mission will help us to start new churches for people who are still looking for that peace. I invite your gift this Easter season. For more information, see the brochures in the Narthex or go to www.episcopalatlanta.org or call us at 404-601-5349.
