St.
Aidan's Annual Parish Picnic This Sunday!
Get ready for some fun! Hamburgers and Hotdogs
will be served along with the side dishes that you bring.
There will be fun and games for everyone…
-
Water Balloon Toss, 3 legged race, hop scotch
and Jacks!
-
The Boy Scouts will be giving guided tours of
the trails behind the church.
-
Plus... our own Covenant Singers will be providing
some entertainment.
Please bring your camp chairs and camping/sports
awnings.
Since Diocesan Confirmation is that afternoon,
we will need your help with clean-up after the event. This is
the perfect opportunity to enjoy food, fun and fellowship! In
case of inclement weather, we will hold the picnic inside!

The
Rev. Rebekah Bokros Hatch to begin ministry at St. Aidan's
This Sunday
Many of you will remember Rebekah from short term with us this last
December, January, and February. We are pleased to announce that
she will now be with us at St. Aidan’s every Sunday as Assistant to the
Rector beginning this Sunday. Her faith, energy, and
experience will be a blessing to us!
Rebekah graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2004. Most
recently, she’s served as chaplain at St. Paul’s School for Boys in
Brooklandville, Maryland, and as Associate Rector, The Church of the
Good Shepherd, in Towson, Maryland. She and her husband Tony, and
daughter Ruth returned to Atlanta in 2009, and they have recently
welcomed Elias, born March 27.
At this point, Rebekah’s role as Assistant to the Rector will be Sundays
only with some occasional pastoral care. Our parish budget and her
schedule with two young children put understandable limits on what can
be done. However, we have preliminary plans for the scope of her
ministry to increase a bit in the months to come to include more
Christian Education and ministerial responsibilities.
Please help to welcome Rebekah and her family (back) into St. Aidan’s
family.

New 2010 Pictorial Directory
We are working on a new
Pictorial Directory to be ready by September. Our dedicated
professional photographer, Jim Pettit, will be making pictures each
Sunday in the Cathedral Room between church services, beginning this
Sunday, May 23. He will also be available during the Parish Picnic.
We can use the pictures that were in the 2008 Pictorial Directory of
you, or you can get new pictures taken by Jim. This is also a great
time to have a family picture made that you can use for your Christmas
cards, or have enlarged for your home. If you prefer to schedule a
separate setting for your family picture, please contact Jim Pettit at
jim@jamespettitphotography.com.
We would really love to have
YOUR picture in our Pictorial Directory and need YOUR cooperation to make this happen.
Please check the current Directory if you
need to correct or update addresses, telephone numbers, or email
addresses on the existing Directory. If your information is correct,
please initial by your name. There will be a master copy in
Burtenshaw Hall. If you have any questions, please
contact Harmony Kiser at
harmony.kiser@comcast.net or 770-205-7899.

St. Aidan’s
Green
Team

This Week's
Green Team Tip
We know you wouldn’t use
more paper towels than you need—but what about everyone else?
Engage in some minor guerrilla tactics by ordering a stash of "These
Come From Trees" stickers, available at
http://thesecomefromtrees.blogspot.com/, which you can post on
paper-towel dispensers in public restrooms, or anywhere else paper
products are dispensed, to remind people that, as the sticker says,
“These come from trees.” Each of these little pieces of positive
propaganda, say its creators, save 100 pounds of paper per year.
Plus, they donate their profits to the Sierra Club.
Recycling Reminder
Please
stop and think before tossing your trash! Please use the recycling
containers in Burtenshaw Hall appropriately. The tall slim cans are for
clean, empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The small cans in the
classrooms are for clean paper. The
Green
Team appreciates your consideration!
Join the
Green
team!
The St. Aidan's
Green Team
meets the second Sunday of each month after the 11 am service;
all are welcome to participate. If you are
interested in helping St. Aidan’s with its environmental stewardship
(recycling and the like) please contact Father Rob at
fr.wood@earthlink.net.

Summer
Mission Trip to Honduras
The next mission trip to
work with the LAMB Institute in Honduras will be June 19 - 26,
2010. Join the team to travel with members of several local
Episcopal churches as they support the poor in and around Tegucigalpa.
Enjoy the opportunity to share God's grace with children at the
residential home and live out St. Aidan's mission "To Know Jesus Christ
and Make Him Known."
Mission trips to Honduras
are a spiritual journey open to parishioners of all ages, including
teens age 15 or older. Team members become part of a “building”
mission: building community, building relationships and “being” the
Church. The cost is $400 plus airfare. Some team members use
frequent flyer miles to offset the airfare cost, which runs about $700.

information, contact Joey Sargent,
jfsargent@gmail.com or 770.335.5244.

Please Note Your
Contributions Clearly!
To make sure we properly
credit your contributions, please make note on your check if your
contribution should be credited to Lift High the Cross. Without a
check notation, we credit your contribution to your regular pledge.
If you write one check for both your regular pledged giving and Lift
High The Cross, please note on the check how much of the total goes to
each. We appreciate your stewardship, and want to make sure your
contributions are accounted for properly.
