Next
week’s Loose Plate Offering - Kids 4 Peace
The First Sunday Loose Plate Offering for
June will support Kids 4 Peace, an interfaith educational program
that brings together children of different cultures and faith traditions
to explore their similarities and differences, taking a step toward
global understanding and peace. Twelve Middle School age children
from Jerusalem, Israel and the West Bank, Palestine (Christian, Jewish
and Muslim) and twelve children from the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta
participate in a year long cultural exchange. The kids share their
stories, hopes and dreams and discover their common heritage.
A highlight of the exchange occurs during
the summer when the children come together for a 10-day summer camp
experience at Camp Mikell. Our own Jack DeArmey has been
selected for the program. Jack will represent St.. Aidan's, along
with representatives from 8 other Atlanta parishes in the 2010 Kids 4
Peace program. Donations received for the loose plate offering
will be used to sponsor Jack in the Kid's 4 Peace program. You may
also make donations to Kids 4 Peace anytime during the month of June by
designating "Kids 4 Peace" in the memo line of your check. For
more information on Kids 4 Peace, visit
http://kids4peaceatlanta.org/.

LHTC
Spring Harvest Update
Contributions this month are really
helping out—with a total of $28,371 made so far. We've been able to
reduce the first loan by $27,048—down to $117,188.63. That first loan
comes due in January 2011, at which point will still have a loan of $1.5
million. With over $240,000 in outstanding pledges, we can easily pay
the first loan off and shrink the second. We'll keep you updated in the
months ahead, but thanks to all who are helping to Lift High the Cross
with sacrificial gifts to fund our common ministry in this place.

Weekly Bible Study
Weekly Bible Study will continue during
the summer on Tuesdays at 9:30am, but we will suspend Wednesday evening
bible study during June and July. All are invited to join us
Tuesdays to study the upcoming readings for Sunday—and the themes and
connections they present.

Thank
You from Emmaus House
They write, “Thank you and St. Aidan's
for the bountiful supply of food sent to Emmaus House last Sunday. Your
food drive collected more than 525 items to help stock the shelves in
the Lokey Center Food Pantry! These generous contributions have gone a
long way to restock items most needed at this time. And thank you Rob
and Joey for making it happen.”

Drake House Work Day was a
Success

Members of St. Aidan's tackled Spring
Cleaning at the Drake House offices on May 15th. Youth and adults
pulled together to mop, wipe and deep clean the meeting rooms, playroom,
classrooms and food pantry. We also had some handy guys work on
the mower and trim up some bushes. Later, the group relocated
items in an off-site storage facility to a larger storage unit, giving
the Drake House staff move space to store supplies and donations.
Many thanks to everyone who turned out to help!

journey of faith, as well as those who helped as teachers during the
year. The newly confirmed are: Alex Lawton, Jack DeArmey, Victor

St. Aidan’s
Green
Team

This Week's
Green
Team Tip
You
dump all sorts of fancy-smelling products into the machine with your
clothes, but those commercial detergents are full of nasty chemicals
that can end up in rivers and streams. Consider switching to a
plant-based, biodegradable laundry soap and don't forget to read the
instructions on the container, because you may be using more detergent
than necessary. Worried about your whites? Instead of chlorine bleach,
scan the store's shelves for a nontoxic alternative – and skip the
fabric softener altogether. For more information, check out
http://www.laundry-alternative.com/detergentsinfo.htm.
Recycling Reminder
Please
stop and think before tossing your trash! Please use the recycling
containers in Burtenshaw Hall appropriately. The tall slim cans are for
clean, empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The small cans in the
classrooms are for clean paper. The
Green
Team appreciates your consideration!
Join the Green
team!
The St. Aidan's
Green Team
meets the second Sunday of each month after the 11 am service;
all are welcome to participate. If you are
interested in helping St. Aidan’s with its environmental stewardship
(recycling and the like) please contact Father Rob at

Please Note Your
Contributions Clearly!
To make sure we properly
credit your contributions, please make note on your check if your
contribution should be credited to Lift High the Cross. Without a
check notation, we credit your contribution to your regular pledge.
If you write one check for both your regular pledged giving and Lift
High The Cross, please note on the check how much of the total goes to
each. We appreciate your stewardship, and want to make sure your
contributions are accounted for properly.
