Partners in Outreach

St. Aidan’s Partners in Outreach, Caring for our Children.

Learn how our Partners are touching and healing the hearts of many children, locally and across our borders.

Rachel Ewald, Executive Director/Founder will be representing the Foster Care Support  Foundation that is dedicated to sustaining and promoting the development of foster children and acquiring and retaining foster parents by providing community recourses and education.

A representative from the LAMB Institute will also be joining us. LAMB continues to do good works for the benefit of the needy and abandoned children and their families in Tegucigalpa.  We will get a current update on the progress and impact we have had on Anita and several other sponsored children as well as the needs and concerns that continue to challenge this wonderful school and safe haven.

Karen Weinmann, Instructional Support Teacher for the Services for Exceptional Children at Hopewell Middle School, will be discussing the successful partnership St. Aidan’s has with the special needs children at Hopewell Middle School and the tremendous impact a few hearts can have on improving these delightful students.

Lost and Found

Did you know that St. Aidan's keeps a Lost and Found in the office next to the Kitchen?  If you misplace something, remember to look there!  This week and next, the lost and found items will be in the Narthex.  After this Sunday, June 5th, ALL items will be donated.

First Sunday Loose Plate Offering - June 5

The Loose Plate Offering for the first Sunday in June will be donated to the LAMB Institute.  St. Aidan’s will match donations up to $500.  LAMB is a Christ-centered, multifaceted ministry based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  LAMB was founded in 1999 as a training school for Hondurans called to world mission.  Today, LAMB operates an elementary school with over 250 children in one of the most violent and poverty stricken areas of Tegucigalpa, a residential home for over 60 abused and neglected children outside of the city, and a community assistance program which provides food, medical care, construction help and microfinance assistance.  LAMB has also recently launched an outreach program ministering to teens and young adults as risk of drugs and violence.  St. Aidan’s sponsors a child, Anita, in the residential children’s home, and members of St. Aidan’s will be traveling to Honduras June 17-24 as missionaries working with LAMB in its ministry.  For more information about LAMB, please visit http://www.lambinstitute.org.

2011 Choral Camp Registration Open!

Registration for this year's Choral Camp is now available online at www.staidans.org/2011choralcamp.  The camp will run from July 21st to July 23rd and attendees will have an opportunity to sing the works they learned during the camp at the 10:30 AM Eucharist on July 24th.  Open to children and young adults ages 5 through 16, this is an excellent opportunity to work with one of Atlanta's premiere vocalists, Dr. Wanda Yang Temko.  No prior musical experience is needed.  Children / young adults from outside of the parish are also welcomed to register and join us.  There will also be an adult master class on July 22nd.  Visit the camp web-site for complete camp details.

Taize Hymn

You may have noticed that each Sunday, for the last Communion hymn, we have included a Taize hymn.  Taize hymns are simple to sing and can often times be a prayerful addition to worship.  Taize hymns are also wonderful ways for children to engage in song and prayer!

Welcome Dr. Wanda Yang Temko

St. Aidan's is pleased to welcome Dr. Wanda Yang Temko as the Director of Choristers of St. Aidan's.  She will work with Christian in providing direction and oversight for the program, as we work to make this one of the leading vocal offerings in the Atlanta area for children and young adults.  Dr. Yang Temko holds a doctorate in vocal performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana, along with degrees from Georgia State University and Emory University.  As a respected voice teacher, her students have attended and won scholarships to major programs and institutions including Brevard Music Center, Oberlin High School Vocal Academy, Oregon Bach Festival, Boston University, Carleton College, Centre College, North Carolina School of the Arts, Georgia State University, and University of Georgia.  A multi-faceted performer, she spent seven years as classical music host on WABE, 90.1 FM.  Dr. Yang Temko is also an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and serves as board President of Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde, Vice-President of Atlanta Early Music Alliance, and board member of Festival Singers of Atlanta.

Youth Ministry

Our long-anticipated vision of an expanded youth ministry program at St. Aidan’s, led by a full-time youth minister, is happening.

First Fruits Offering for Light the Fire - June 12th

What better way to commemorate the birthday of our church than with a celebration of the rebirth of our Youth Ministry program! Please prayerfully consider your pledge for Light the Fire campaign, and return your pledge card on Sunday, June 12th at either service.  To give the campaign a jump start, consider making your first year donation as well.  Remember, all contributors pledging $250/year or will be able to personalize a commemorative brick for the cottage walkway.  Help St. Aidan's thrive with your pledge to support the growth of youth ministry.
