Parish Life & Ministries
Thank You!
Many thanks to everyone who helped with "Mass on
the Grass" and the Pentecost Picnic this past Sunday. In spite
of the heat the Holy Spirit was with us, providing a nice breeze to keep
the pinwheels spinning. Everyone enjoyed the release of homing
pigeons, yummy wings and outdoor fun. Thanks to the many, many
hard workers who helped set-up, clean-up and organize for this event,
especially Cathy Biondi and the chefs; Kim Smith for coordinating
games; Don Frank for arranging the homing pigeons.
Light
the Fire Campaign for Youth Ministry
Now is the perfect time to return your Light the
Fire pledge cards. You can drop your pledge card in the offering
plate on Sunday, or pledge online. Remember, anyone pledging $250
or more per year will get one free commemorative brick. The bricks will
be used to create a special pathway at The Cottage. If you did not
receive a pledge card, you can pick one up in the Narthex.
Mother’s Covenant Group
Join us as we gather to refresh and share strength
for the journey. Monday, June 20th, 7pm to 9pm. We will
meet at the home of Julie
Michelitch—jmichelitch@bellsouth.net.
NFCC
Food Pantry "Item of the Month" for June
Children are out of school and families are
preparing more meals at home. Most of the clients of NFCC are on
free/reduced lunch at school. Assist them this month with paper
products and laundry detergent that will help make this summer a bit
easier. While grocery shopping this month consider purchasing
these items: all paper products - toilet tissue, paper towels, paper
napkins, paper plates, and laundry detergent - small bottles of liquid
or powdered detergent. Please place items in the basket provided in
the Narthex. For any questions please contact Preston Hinkel at
prestonhinkel@comcast.net.

Thank you to our Piney Grove Middle
School Mentors
With the school year ended, we owe a special thanks to our St. Aidan's
volunteers who mentored this year at Piney Grove Middle School: Harmony
Kiser, Chuck Johnson, Tony Zamonis, Eric Evans, and John Ray.
These individuals devoted thirty minutes each week to mentoring a young
person in special need of stable adult guidance and example. Your
service is appreciated, and St. Aidan's thanks you!
Summer Nursery Volunteers
We welcome any teens or adults who can help us out
in the Nursery this summer at the 10:30am service. Please speak with
Susan Griffis,
suegrif@bellsouth.net, if you're
available to lend a hand! A sign up sheet is also available in the
Narthex.

2011 Choral Camp Registration Open!
Registration for this year's Choral Camp is now available online at
www.staidans.org/2011choralcamp.
The camp will run from July 21st to July 23rd and attendees will have an
opportunity to sing the works they learned during the camp at the 10:30
AM Eucharist on July 24th. Open to children and young adults ages 5
through 16, this is an excellent opportunity to work with one of
Atlanta's premiere vocalists, Dr. Wanda Yang Temko. No prior musical
experience is needed. Children / young adults from outside of the
parish are also welcomed to register and join us. There will also be an
adult master class on July 22nd. Visit the camp web-site for complete
camp details.
Taize Hymn
Taizé Hymns have recently been
included as the last Communion hymn. Taizé hymns are simple to
sing and can often times be a prayerful addition to worship. Taizé
hymns are also wonderful ways for children to engage in song and prayer!
Youth Ministry
Our long-anticipated vision of an expanded youth ministry
program at St. Aidan’s, led by a full-time youth minister, is happening.

General
Announcements & Notices
Fragrance
Sensitivity
Some
people have highly allergic reactions to perfume and other smells that
come from detergents, hair sprays, and soaps. Though such reactions are
rare, we do have members of St. Aidan's whose allergies are that severe,
which unfortunately can make them very ill. We ask your sensitivity and
cooperation by not wearing perfume or cologne when coming to church.
Thank you for your understanding.
Ordination
of David Wagner
The Right
Reverend John Neil Alexander, by the grace of God, the Bishop of
Atlanta, will ordain David William Wagner to the Sacred Order of Priest
in Christ's One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church on June 26th, 2011
at 4:00pm at the Cathedral of St. Philip at 2744 Peachtree Road, NW,
Atlanta, GA. Your prayers and presence are requested, and a
reception follows in Child Hall. David, our former youth director,
is currently serving as Assistant Rector at St. Martin’s in the Fields
Episcopal Church in Columbia, SC.

Listening Sessions Scheduled
Along with Bishop Election Date
The Committee for Nominations for the10th Bishop of
Atlanta has scheduled listening sessions around Middle and North Georgia
starting June 23 and concluding July 17 in order to gather material for
a written profile that describes the diocese to applicants.
The special election to identify Bishop J. Neil Alexander's successor
has been scheduled for June 2, 2012, at the Cathedral of St. Philip.
(Individuals who are clergy members of or delegates to the 105th Annual
Council in November will be eligible to vote in the bishop election.)
Listening sessions will allow for the committee to learn what three
separate groups of Episcopalians-laypeople, priests and deacons-have to
say about the Diocese of Atlanta. The sessions will be facilitated by
members of the Committee for Nominations, who will seek discussion and
responses to some general questions including:
What is going well in the Diocese of Atlanta?
What are the challenges in the Diocese of Atlanta?
What are the characteristics you seek in our next bishop?
How do you see the spiritual nature of the diocese changing?
What kind of diocese do we need to become?
Our committee hopes that you will be able to attend
a listening session. If you are unable to attend a session, you will
have the opportunity to respond to the questions in writing. A schedule
of listening sessions is listed at right as well as on our new website:
