Please Wear Your Name Tags This Summer

Please wear your nametags this summer.  Name tags help visitors (and anybody) know your name, including our new assistant, Rebekah Hatch.  Having your name in front of her will greatly help her put names and faces together.  Thank you!

Summer Mission Trip to Honduras

Members of several local Episcopal parishes, including St. David's, Holy Family, St. Peter & St. Paul and Holy Spirit will be traveling to Honduras this week to work with the LAMB Institute in Tegucigalpa.  St. Aidan's will be represented by Alyssa Sargent, a rising senior at Milton High School.  She is being sponsored by several members of St. Aidan's whose generous contributions made it possible for her to participate.  Alyssa will have the opportunity to spend time with Anita, St. Aidan's sponsored child at LAMB.

The team will be working on construction of a new dormitory for boys at the LAMB children's home.  They will also be teaching sewing and other skills to teens at the children's home, and working with women and children in the LAMB Community Assistance Program (CAP).  Please keep all the team members in your prayers during the trip (June 18-26).  If you would like to follow daily updates from the team, visit the team blog at:

A Note on Financial Support of the Church

As part of your financial support of St. Aidan's, some of you purchase food and other supplies to specific church activities and then donate these goods without asking for reimbursement.  For example, food and supplies needed for such activities and missions as the Seder Meal, Caregivers, and Vacation Bible School have been purchased by our parishioners and donated.  Thank you for this generosity!  Please keep in mind that not only are these donations tax deductible, but can be reflected on the year end tax statement you receive from St. Aidan's.  Simply turn in receipts for such purchases to Donna Jones, marked "no reimbursement" and she can handle this for you.

Please Keep Your Pledge and General Contributions Current

Economic times are tight for many, and St. Aidan’s is falling into that category.  It’s time for straight talk with the simple message that contributions are noticeably behind for the year.  Please remember the important spiritual discipline of stewardship as one way of proclaiming all that God has done for you — returning to Him and to the ministry of the Kingdom in this church from your resources.

We Need a Few Good Moppers!

The Mopping Ministry saves the church over $5,000 each year in commercial cleaning fees.  We mop Burtehshaw Hall floor twice each month and with 8 teams, each team mops 3 times a year, usually 2 hours on a Saturday morning.  The "Zamboni" scrubbing machine is a big help in cleaning the floor.

Men, women and youth are invited to join the Mighty Moppers by signing up on the bulletin board in Burtenshaw Hall or by contacting 'da Big Mopper', Jerry Hood, at jhood66@comcast.net or 770-720-6171.

Perfume Sensitivity

Some people have highly allergic reactions to perfume and other smells that come from detergents, hair sprays, and soaps.  Though such reactions are rare, we do have members of St. Aidan's whose allergies are that severe, which unfortunately can make them very ill.  We ask your sensitivity and cooperation by not wearing perfume or cologne when coming to church.  Thank you for your understanding.

St. Aidan’s Green Team

This Week's Green Team Tip

If you're looking for a thought-provoking movie this summer, you may want to check out Leonardo DiCaprio's The 11th Hour.  With contributions from over 50 politicians, scientists, and environmental activists, including former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, and journalist Paul Hawken, the film documents the grave problems facing the planet's life systems.  Global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans' habitats are all addressed.  The film's premise is that the future of humanity is in jeopardy.  The film proposes potential solutions to these problems by calling for restorative action by the reshaping and rethinking of global human activity through technology, social responsibility and conservation.

Recycling Reminder

Please stop and think before tossing your trash!  Please use the recycling containers in Burtenshaw Hall appropriately.  The tall slim cans are for clean, empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans.  The small cans in the classrooms are for clean paper.  The Green Team appreciates your consideration!

Join the Green team!

The St. Aidan's Green Team meets the second Sunday of each month after the 11 am service; all are welcome to participate.  If you are interested in helping St. Aidan’s with its environmental stewardship (recycling and the like) please contact Father Rob at fr.wood@earthlink.net.
