Outreach
“Field Trip” to Nicholas House, July 17th
Come along on an Outreach
Field Trip to Nicholas House and see how their programs help homeless
families achieve self-sufficiency. For almost 30 years, Nicholas House
has helped families stay together while they work to get back on their
feet and stay there. Through individualized case management and powerful
youth programs that stop the cycle of poverty, Nicholas House has
assisted over 1800 families on their way to healthy, productive and
self-sufficient lives.
St. Aidan’s will be
joining Nicholas House’s monthly
Open Door Tour
on Saturday,
July 17th.
We’ll meet at St. Aidan’s at 9:15 and carpool to Nicholas House near
Grant Park. The tour runs from 10:30 – 11:30, and those interested can
gather for lunch afterward to reflect on what we learned. Please RSVP to
Joey Sargent at jfsargent@gmail.com
or 770.335.5244 so we have a count of those coming.

Youth Minister Update
As you know, Sam Zavitz’s
departure last month left us with a vacancy in the youth minister staff
position. We are thankful that Jonathan Edman and Jakima
McCall have volunteered to co-chair the EYC advisors in
leadership—meaning that we will be using their talents and not hiring
someone at this time. Both Jonathan and Jakima have many years
experience in working with youth, and we are truly blessed to have them
and the other advisors. Please see the announcement below for EYC
activities this summer.

Please Wear Your
Name Tags This Summer
Please wear your
nametags this summer. Name tags help visitors (and anybody)
know your name, including our new assistant, Rebekah Hatch.
Having your name in front of her will greatly help her put names and
faces together. Thank you!

Last
Day to have Directory Pictures Taken
We need your help so that
we don’t have a directory of limited pictures. Jim Pettit will be
available to take pictures in the Cathedral Room between church services
and following the 10:30 service. You may schedule a sitting for your
picture, by contacting
jim@jamespettitphotography.com. If you are unable to have your
pictures taken, please send an individual or family photograph to
office@staidans.org, with
"Photo for Directory" in the subject line, no later than August 1. If
that is not done, we will use your photograph that was in the last
Pictorial Directory, your newcomers picture, or unfortunately, leave
your print without your picture.
Also, PLEASE check the Directories located either in the Narthex, or
hallway and plate table in Burtenshaw Hall to verify your address,
telephone numbers, and email. Contact Harmony Kiser at 770-205-7899 or
harmony.kiser@comcast.net

St.
Aidan’s
Green
Team
This Week's
Green
Team Tip
Most of us are familiar
with the "leave no trace" principles, but sometimes it's possible to
leave a place even better than you found it. By picking up litter
along trails and campsites, you'll set a good example and improve
everyone's wilderness experience. To find opportunities to help
build and maintain trails, repair meadows, and eradicate invasive
vegetation, check out the service trips offered by Sierra Club Outings -
http://www.sierraclub.org/outings/national/service.aspx
Recycling Reminder
Please stop and think before tossing your
trash! Please use the recycling containers in Burtenshaw Hall
appropriately. The tall slim cans are for clean, empty plastic
bottles and aluminum cans. The small cans in the classrooms are
for clean paper. The
Green
Team appreciates your consideration!
Join the Green team!
The St. Aidan's
Green
Team meets the
second Sunday
of each month after the 11 am service; all are welcome to participate.
If you are interested in helping St. Aidan’s with its environmental
stewardship (recycling and the like) please contact Father Rob at
fr.wood@earthlink.net.

We
Need a Few Good Moppers!
The Mopping Ministry
saves the church over $5,000 each year in commercial cleaning
fees. We mop Burtenshaw Hall floor twice each month and with
8 teams, each team mops 3 times a year, usually 2 hours on a
Saturday morning.
The "Zamboni"
scrubbing machine is a big help in cleaning the floor.
Men, women and youth
are invited to join the Mighty Moppers by signing up on the
bulletin board in Burtenshaw Hall or by contacting 'da Big Mopper',
Jerry Hood, at
jhood66@comcast.net
or 770-720-6171.
