Outreach
“Field Trip” to Nicholas House, July 17th
Come along on an Outreach
Field Trip to Nicholas House and see how their programs help homeless
families achieve self-sufficiency. For almost 30 years, Nicholas House
has helped families stay together while they work to get back on their
feet and stay there. Through individualized case management and powerful
youth programs that stop the cycle of poverty, Nicholas House has
assisted over 1800 families on their way to healthy, productive and
self-sufficient lives.
St. Aidan’s will be
joining Nicholas House’s monthly
Open Door Tour
on Saturday,
July 17th. We’ll meet at St. Aidan’s at 9:15 and carpool to Nicholas House near
Grant Park. The tour runs from 10:30 – 11:30, and those interested can
gather for lunch afterward to reflect on what we learned. Please RSVP to
Joey Sargent at jfsargent@gmail.com
or 770.335.5244 so we have a count of those coming.

Youth Minister Update
As you know, Sam Zavitz’s
departure last month left us with a vacancy in the youth minister staff
position. We are thankful that Jonathan Edman and Jakima
McCall have volunteered to co-chair the EYC advisors in
leadership—meaning that we will be using their talents and not hiring
someone at this time. Both Jonathan and Jakima have many years
experience in working with youth, and we are truly blessed to have them
and the other advisors. Please see the announcement below for EYC
activities this summer.

Please Wear Your
Name Tags This Summer
Please wear your
nametags this summer. Name tags help visitors (and anybody)
know your name, including our new assistant, Rebekah Hatch.
Having your name in front of her will greatly help her put names and
faces together. Thank you!

Fragrance Sensitivity
Some people have
highly allergic reactions to perfume and other smells that come from
detergents, hair sprays, and soaps. Though such reactions are rare,
we do have members of St. Aidan's whose allergies are that severe,
which unfortunately can make them very ill. We ask your sensitivity
and cooperation by not wearing perfume or cologne when coming to
church. Thank you for your understanding.

St.
Aidan’s
Green
Team
This Week's
Green
Team Tip
Need a project for the
kids this summer? How about teaching them a few cooking basics.
Making food at home lets us have more control over what we are feeding
our families. Plus, homemade foods mean fewer factory emissions,
less packaging and limiting the harmful chemicals we can ingest with
processed foods. Looking for inspiration? Online cookbooks (think
paper-free!), including
www.AllRecipes.com and www.Cooks.com,
offer excellent kid-friendly options. For cooking with children, check
out Petit Appetit, a book of organic recipes, Better than Peanut
Butter & Jelly, a collection of easy vegetarian recipes, or the classic
Betty Crocker kids’ cookbook.
Recycling Reminder
Please stop and think before tossing your
trash! Please use the recycling containers in Burtenshaw Hall
appropriately. The tall slim cans are for clean, empty plastic
bottles and aluminum cans. The small cans in the classrooms are
for clean paper. The
Green
Team appreciates your consideration!
Join the Green team!
The St. Aidan's
Green
Team meets the
second Sunday
of each month after the 11 am service; all are welcome to participate.
If you are interested in helping St. Aidan’s with its environmental
stewardship (recycling and the like) please contact Father Rob at
fr.wood@earthlink.net.

We
Need a Few Good Moppers!
The Mopping Ministry
saves the church over $5,000 each year in commercial cleaning
fees. We mop Burtenshaw Hall floor twice each month and with
8 teams, each team mops 3 times a year, usually 2 hours on a
Saturday morning.
The "Zamboni"
scrubbing machine is a big help in cleaning the floor.
Men, women and youth
are invited to join the Mighty Moppers by signing up on the
bulletin board in Burtenshaw Hall or by contacting 'da Big Mopper',
Jerry Hood, at
jhood66@comcast.net
or 770-720-6171.
