The
Blessing of the Backpacks
With schools opening
over the next few weeks, it is ‘meet and right’ to bless children
and their studies. All students are welcome to bring their
backpacks to church on
this Sunday,
and come forward for a blessing during the announcements. We
will bless all teachers, too!

Bridge Fund Update
In case you haven't
heard, the Bridge Fund is collecting contributions, above and beyond
regular pledges, to cover a projected $50,000 shortfall in our 2010
operating budget. This shortfall is caused by lower pledges
vs. 2009 and 2010 pledge fulfillment which is below our historic
average of 98%. To date we have already received Bridge Fund
contributions of $13,000 from 39 families. We appreciate your
faithful, enthusiastic support! A letter on the Bridge Fund was
sent out this week to all active St. Aidan's families. If we
receive $300 from each active family, we will be able to cover this
shortfall. If you haven't given, please strongly and
prayerfully consider joining your fellow parishioners and making a
contribution. We need your help to maintain the St. Aidan's
ministries we are called to provide.

Blessing of the
Skinned Knee, with The Rev. Rebekah Bokros Hatch
The hustle and bustle of life, school, work, extra-curricular activities
can easily overshadow one of our primary roles as parents: to raise a
faithful child. With the demands and expectations our society
places on families, this priority gets shifted further and further down
the list, despite our desire to do otherwise. Join us for 4 weeks
as we look at how to frame our family life in a more faithful way.
Using Wendy Mogel’s The Blessing of the Skinned Knee, we’ll gain some
insight into raising faithful, self-reliant, compassionate and ethical
children. We meet in the library.
Other Adult Classes
The Letter of James, a
6-week Bible Study
Join us Tuesday
mornings in the library (Sept. 7 to Oct. 12) at 9:30 or Wednesday nights
(Sept. 8—Oct. 13) at 7:30 to pray and study over the letter of James,
who writes of ‘faith and works’, ‘mercy triumphing over judgment,’ and
being ’doers of the word.’
EfM at St. Aidan’s
If you are looking
for an in-depth way to study the Bible, church history and theology, our
parish offers an EfM class that meets Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Start
date TBA. Please contact Blair Hendrickson if you are interested
in learning more about this opportunity to grow in your faith.

Tip
Most
campuses provide students with computer access in the library or labs,
so using your own PC isn't always necessary. But if you're
shopping for a laptop, opt for one that's Energy Star certified.
Buy a power strip for your dorm room, and don't forget to switch it off
when you leave: More than 5% of U.S. electricity is wasted each
year by vampire electronics.
Recycling Reminder
Please stop and think before tossing your
trash! Please use the recycling containers in Burtenshaw Hall
appropriately. The tall slim cans are for clean, empty plastic
bottles and aluminum cans. The small cans in the classrooms are
for clean paper. The
Green
Team appreciates your consideration!
Join the
Green

The St. Aidan's
Green

second Sunday
of each month after the 11 am service; all are welcome to participate.

stewardship (recycling and the like) please contact Father Rob at

We
Need a Few Good Moppers!
The Mopping Ministry
saves the church over $5,000 each year in commercial cleaning
fees. We mop Burtenshaw Hall floor twice each month and with
8 teams, each team mops 3 times a year, usually 2 hours on a
Saturday morning.
The "Zamboni"
scrubbing machine is a big help in cleaning the floor.
Men, women and youth
are invited to join the Mighty Moppers by signing up on the
bulletin board in Burtenshaw Hall or by contacting 'da Big Mopper',
Jerry Hood, at
