by Fr. Rob and a great team of facilitators in Burtenshaw Hall. The
Core principles of generosity that we will discuss are:
-
Generosity is
Christ-centered.

Generosity is
trust-oriented.
-
Generosity is being
thankful in spirit.
-
Generosity is driven by
love.
-
Generosity is an act of
obedience.
Bible Study
Come take an in-depth look
at Sunday’s readings and the themes of the day. This class will
greatly enhance your worship experience and help you keep Sunday lessons
closer to your heart. We will meet in the cathedral room.
Blessing of the
Skinned Knee, with The Rev. Rebekah Bokros Hatch
The hustle and bustle of life, school, work, extra-curricular activities
can easily overshadow one of our primary roles as parents: to raise a
faithful child. With the demands and expectations our society places on
families, this priority gets shifted further and further down the list,
despite our desire to do otherwise. Using Wendy Mogel’s, The
Blessing of the Skinned Knee, we’ll gain some insight into raising
faithful, self-reliant, compassionate children. We meet in the library.
Other Adult Classes
Be
DOERS of the Word, not just hearers! Learn how by studying with us
The Letter of James in a 6-week Bible Study, either Tuesday mornings in
the library (Sept. 7 to Oct. 12) at 9:30 or Wednesday nights (Sept.
8 to Oct. 13) at 7:30 to pray and study over the letter of James, who
writes of ‘faith and works’, or ‘mercy triumphing over judgment.’
EfM at St. Aidan’s
If you are looking
for an in-depth way to study the Bible, church history and theology, our
parish offers an EfM class that meets Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Start
date TBA. Please contact Blair Hendrickson if you are interested
in learning more about this opportunity to grow in your faith.

Bridge Fund Update
The Bridge Fund was
started just a few weeks ago to collect contributions, above and
beyond regular pledges, to cover a projected $50,000 shortfall in
our 2010 operating budget. The trends had been pledge fulfillment
this year at only 90%, well below our historic average of 98%. We
have asked for a $300 donation from each St. Aidan's family to the
Bridge Fund in order to close this budget shortfall. To date,
we have collected over $30,000. These contributions have come from
77 of the 300 families in our parish. As evidenced by the average
contribution (about $400), some of you have given multiple times and
for more than $300. Further, some of you have indicated you are
considering an additional gift. We are all blessed by this
generosity; thank you to all Bridge Fund contributors for your
stewardship commitment to the St. Aidan's family. We are grateful
for where we are with this effort, but further help is needed. If
you haven't given, please prayerfully consider a Bridge Fund
contribution. You don't have to give $300 all at once; you can
spread out your payments between now and the end of the year.
Please mark your check as "Bridge Fund" so we can credit it
properly. Thank you for financial support of the ministries of St.
Aidan's.

Need a Few Good Moppers!

saves the church over $5,000 each year in commercial cleaning
fees. We mop Burtenshaw Hall floor twice each month and with
8 teams, each team mops 3 times a year, usually 2 hours on a
Saturday morning.
The "Zamboni"
scrubbing machine is a big help in cleaning the floor.
Men, women and youth
are invited to join the Mighty Moppers by signing up on the
bulletin board in Burtenshaw Hall or by contacting 'da Big Mopper',
Jerry Hood, at
