Outreach

Backpacks of Love Update

In 2011 over 70 different individuals and families from St. Aidan's sponsored backpacks through Backpacks of Love.  We now serve four different schools in north Fulton and South Forsyth counties.  Without this sense of mission to children in need in our community, we wouldn't have been able to deliver any of the over 5 1/2 tons of food and other essential items given during the year.  Thank you for your generosity and commitment to serve!  For further information on sponsorship or how you can help, please contact John Ray (john.f.ray@gmail.com).

Community of Hope Commissioning

On Sunday, January 22, during the regular 11:00 service, six parishioners: Kathy Bump, Betty Hood, Harmony Kiser, Anne McManes, John Ray and Deb Stecher will be commissioned.  They have completed the training and internship and will remain united in prayer and community as their ministries lead them to serve in the congregation and in the wider community.  This group of trained lay pastoral caregivers will continue to be nurtured in an ongoing community of Circle of Care which meets each month.  St. Aidan's Community of Hope Center is the first one in Georgia, although there are over 86 centers in many other states and countries.

Community of Hope Training

Are you seeking a deeper spiritual life?  Would you like to feel that you are "making a difference" in the world?  Would you like more insight into your special spiritual gifts?  I have found an answer to these questions in my Community of Hope training.  What I had thought would be an excellent training in Pastoral Care turned out to strengthen and deepen my personal spiritual life and ability to "listen with the ear of my heart," as St. Benedict requests in his Rule.  The training is not limited exclusively to Episcopalians, although it was begun by an Episcopal Priest/Chaplain, but is open to and enriched by the representation of many denominations.  We would love for you to join us as we begin another Community of Hope Training in February.  The day and time of the training will be decided by the group desiring to take the training.  Pick up a brochure and go to www.coh-international.com  for more information.  Please contact Harmony Kiser, harmony.kiser@comcast.net or 770-205-7899 to answer questions or register.

Christian Education

Dave Ramsey

Mark  your calendars now for a one-day, live event with Dave Ramsey on January 21, 2012 at the Gwinnett Arena.  Dave helps people take control of their finances—and does so with a spiritual focus and a goal of freedom and generosity.  The event is from 1-6 pm.  Tickets are $25 per person—a discount given to churches.  See Fr. Rob or Don Frank for information and tickets, and let’s get a big group going from St. Aidan’s.

Lectionary Bible Study

Prepare your heart and mind for Sunday by joining us and praying over the Word of God—Tuesdays at 9:30 am in the Library.

Adult Forum

Adult Forum on Sundays returns January 8 with a three-week course on discipleship which we hope gives you grounding for a new year’s resolution.  Join Rob and Rebekah to focus on your call to be a disciple of Jesus — to know Him and make Him known.

Stewardship

Vine and Branches Stewardship

The wise men gave Baby Jesus treasures from their kingdoms.  We, today, give Christ the treasures from our hearts.  So as "Vine and Branches" Stewardship 2012 draws to a close, many have given to the church, St. Aidan's, so that the work begun in the past can continue into the future.  We have opened up our hearts even in these most difficult times, and pledged.  To date we have 151 pledges, represented by the 151 leaves on the Branches on the Cross in the Narthex.  This is close to the 170 we are striving to have.  If you have not yet taken this step in your own personal stewardship, please do so now, knowing that  there are those for whom we can brighten their lives by just being St. Aidan's and here for them when needed.  Please take this opportunity to pledge online at www.staidans.org, return your pledge card to the church or mail it to the church office.  Additional pledge cards are located in the narthex.  All pledges received will be blessed at the altar during the Sunday service.
