March 12th - eMail from Martha

10:34 pm

Today was a very different day. It was really intended to educate us about the multiple dimensions of the LAMB Institute. At first, I wondered if it wouldn't be better for us to spend the day working as we did the last 2 days. But now I understand the importance of seeing (and smelling) some of these mission activities.

We visited a nursery of about 10 infants and toddlers that LAMB just took on last year. They acquired a home where these special children are now being nurtured. Many of them arrived abandoned and
malnourished. Some will always have developmental problems, perhaps, but now they are well cared for and loved.

We also visited the poorest of the poor - a neighborhood of make-shift homes and open fires for cooking tortillas to then haul across town and sell. It is difficult to describe some of the stories we heard. I'll make some notes in my journal instead today. Several people are
anxious to use the one computer here.

Take care.
FHS, Martha
