Our first Community of Hope consisting of Kathy Bump, Betty Hood, Harmony Kiser, Anne McManes, John Ray and Deb Stecher has now completed their 15-week training, and is in the midst of a three-month internship before taking their vows and being commissioned on Sunday, December 4.

We are eager to start another training group, and invite YOU to join us. You can go to http://www.coh-international.com/ to learn more.  The mission of The Community of Hope is to create and sustain Christian communities of volunteer lay pastoral caregivers around the world.  They are united in prayer, shaped by Benedictine spirituality, and equipped for and serving in pastoral care ministries.  The Community of Hope training consists of a continuous strenuous 15-week curriculum followed by monthly meetings of the members.  The after group is called the Circle of Care.

The purpose of The Community of Hope is to awaken trainees to God’s call on each of our lives by helping individuals discover and better understand their own spiritual gifts for ministry.  Each participant is encouraged to make this experience a journey into wholeness, to use this opportunity to explore a “rule of life”, practice sacred silence, Christian meditation, compassionate listening, pastoral identity and lectio divina, all within the context of Benedictine Spirituality.  This experience builds community and develops spiritually centered pastoral caregivers.

It will require your firm dedication to this process.  Each weekly class will be scheduled for between 1 - 3 hours and will focus on a specific training module. We will have qualified speakers for each module.  Near the end of the training, we will incorporate two "practice visits" to a pastoral care setting to be sure you are comfortable with the training you have received.

If you are interested in being part of this group, please contact Harmony Kiser, harmony.kiser@comcast.net, 770-205-7899, to get the application.  The size of the class is limited, and we are very anxious to get started as soon as possible, so please make your decision about this a priority.
