Arrive no later than 8:15 a.m. (for
the 8:30 a.m. service) to assist parents checking their children
into the nursery.

Please make sure to put out the sign
in notebook found in the nursery cabinet for parents.

Read the sign-in sheet to note any
allergies or special needs of the children in your care.

Caregivers are asked to be hospitable
and welcoming at all times and interactive with children, parents,
and volunteers of the church.

Where applicable, children should
bring labeled diapers, wipes, and bottle or sippy cup to avoid
unnecessary sharing.

Please discourage toys from home from
being brought into the nursery. They are difficult to keep up with
and we can’t guarantee their safe return.

At all times, no child should be
disciplined by physical punishment. Time-Outs, Re-direction or
separation from the group should be used as forms of discipline.

If a caregiver witnesses another
caregiver using physical punishment, or abusing a child, either
physically or mentally, it is required that you report the incident
to the Nursery Care Director, or Children’s Ministry Director or
another church staff member.

If a child bites another child, or
adult, the incident needs to be reported to the Nursery Care
Director, or Children’s Ministry Director and the parents.

Tactfully inform parents of any
hitting, physically abusive or disrespectful behavior, continuously
displayed by a child.

The changing station has all the
necessary supplies. It is imperative that hands be washed or
sanitized after each change. Dirty diapers should be placed in the
trash can and tied off, then placed in the dumpster upon leaving.

No child should be allowed to leave
the nursery with a dirty diaper.

If a child does not settle down and
continues to cry consistently for 12 minutes, please send a nursery
caregiver to get the parents (or page the parent if they have taken
a pager). Please encourage the parents to try the nursery again next
Sunday!

If a child seems upset upon drop off
and a parent seems hesitant to leave the child; offer the parents a
pager. The parents can attend services and know that they are just a
call away if their child stays upset.

If children are not drinking from
their bottles or cups, place them out of reach of other children.

Due to various allergies, snacks are
not allowed in the nursery and should not be served.

If the weather permits and there is
appropriate adult coverage, children can go to the playground.

Sick children are not allowed to stay
in the nursery. If a child becomes ill during the service, isolate
them from other children and either page the parents or send another
nursery caregiver to find the parents. The child will need to be
removed from the nursery.

Do not release any child to any person
that is not that child’s parent or guardian.

The top half of the door shall remain
open at all times.
-
At least two adults shall be in a room
at all times.

Please take trash to the dumpster at
the end of the day.

Make sure all toys, especially those
that have been chewed are wiped with a Lysol wipe and/ or sprayed
with Lysol or equivalent cleaner - washing with soap and water as
well if needed.
