Bird Flu:  A cause for concern?

“We have learned in recent years that disaster can strike at almost any time in many ways---hurricane, tornado, flood.  Being prepared for these and other types of disaster has become a matter of awareness and common sense.”  So begins the Parish Pandemic Plan, approved by the Vestry on April 25, 2006.

The people of St. Aidan’s are encouraged to add a flu pandemic to the list of possible disasters for which education and preparedness are wise.

The Disaster Planning Committee (DPC) has been at work for three months educating themselves and creating the Parish Pandemic Plan.

A few copies are also available in the Narthex.

The Vestry charged the DPC to now focus on how St. Aidan’s leadership will lead the congregation if and when a pandemic, or any disaster, occurs in our area.  In the weeks ahead, the DPC will offer an educational seminar (at a time to be determined) that will share with you our vision for caring for one another and continuing our life of prayer and service even in difficult and trying times.

If you have questions, please contact any of the DPC Committee, which falls under Pastoral Care, Clark Miller, chair.  Committee members: Elwyn Alexander, Dr. Ruth Clemens, Jerry Hood, Carole Maddux, Theo Manos, Julie Michelitch, and Fr. Rob Wood.
