I have noticed that we have used different names for our worship.
Which is correct?
There are a number of appropriate terms for
Holy Communion. The section of our Catechism that concerns the Holy
Eucharist (it can be found in the back of your Book of Common Prayer, page
859, 3rd question), lists several options: Holy Eucharist,
Lord’s Supper, Holy Communion, Divine Liturgy, the Mass, and the Great
Offering.
How do we choose the
hymns we sing on Sunday?
We consider the Season of the Church Year and
the texts of scripture that are read on that day. We also consult the
current Episcopal Musician’s Handbook, which suggests hymns that
relate to the Lesson (the Hebrew Scriptures reading), the Epistle (the
Christian Scriptures reading), the Gospel and the Collect of the Day (which
is the prayer assigned to the day).
Why do we sing all the
verses in our hymns?
A hymn tells a story. To cut out a verse
would be like skipping a chapter in a novel. The Anglican tradition is
to keep it as a whole.
How can I serve on Sunday
morning?
Opportunities to serve
include: acolytes, choir members and support persons, Sunday School
teachers and support persons for all age classes, Lay Readers, Intercessors
for the Prayers of the Faithful, Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Nursery
caregivers and support persons, Ushers, Coffee Hosts and Hostesses.
If you would like
to help, call the Church Office.
When are Baptisms performed?
Baptisms are scheduled
for the 10:30 services on January 11 (first Sunday after the Epiphany),
April 10 (Easter Eve), May 30 (Pentecost Sunday), November 1 (All
Saint’s Day). Call the Church Office to schedule a baptism, to
get details about preparations, and to discuss baptisms at other times.

How can I become part of St.
Aidan’s?
You do not have to be a member of St. Aidan’s
to attend and participate in the life of the parish. But if you would
like to become a member, there are several steps you might need to take.
We will be happy to work with you.
If you are already a confirmed Episcopalian,
the Church Office can handle the transfer of your membership from your
former parish.
If you are a baptized Christian, from
another denomination, you may attend Confirmation Preparation classes, and
we will arrange a time of Confirmation for you.
